A graceful evergreen conifer prized for its soft, feathery foliage and elegant pyramidal form, this Mexican Cypress adds year-round structure and a lush, aromatic presence to any landscape. Its airy sprays of blue-green to dark green leaves create gentle texture and movement, making it a versatile choice for ornamental planting, windbreaks, or as a striking specimen tree in larger gardens and naturalized areas.
For ornamental use, these seeds can be started indoors or in a prepared nursery bed; young plants develop best with consistent moisture and bright, filtered light before transplanting to a sunny, well-drained location. This fast-growing conifer thrives in mild climates and can reach considerable height over time, so allow ample space for its mature spread. Its dense, conical silhouette also works well as a privacy screen or focal point when planted in groups.
Species: Cupressus lusitanica
Variety: Mexican Cypress
Type: Evergreen conifer tree
Plant_Habit: Upright pyramidal, arborvitae-like
Sun: Full sun to partial shade
Soil: Well-drained, sandy or loamy; tolerates poor soils
Days_to_Harvest: Not applicable (ornamental tree)
Zones: 8–10 (USDA)
Germination: 4–8 weeks at 60–70°F; cold stratification can improve rates
Sowing: Sow 1/4 inch deep; keep moist but not wet
Spacing: 15–25 feet apart for landscape use
Notes: Foliage may bronze slightly in extreme cold; drought-tolerant once established

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0717/4648/6408/files/download_d2c0b528-6b68-406b-953a-c6edabf01230.png?v=1791895644
https://www.natesgardensupply.com/products/10-seeds-cupressus-lusitanica-mexican-cypress-tree-evergreen-conifer
