This starter plug arrives as a young, actively growing plant ready to establish in a garden bed or container, making it an accessible choice for home growers who want to begin a berry patch without waiting on bare-root stock. The plants are vigorous and well-suited to temperate climates, offering both ornamental value with their green foliage and seasonal blossoms, and a rewarding edible harvest.
The September Red Raspberry serves well in kitchen gardens, edible landscapes, and border plantings where its upright canes add structure and seasonal interest. Berries are typically enjoyed fresh, and also work nicely in jams, pies, and desserts. Canes are biennial, fruiting on second-year growth, so a simple pruning routine after harvest helps maintain productivity. Plant in full sun with good air movement and consistent moisture for the best results.
Species: Rubus idaeus
Variety: September Red
Type: Summer-bearing raspberry
Plant_Habit: Upright, suckering canes
Sun: Full sun
Soil: Well-draining, slightly acidic, rich in organic matter
Days_to_Harvest: Approximately 2 years from planting
Zones: 4-8
Germination: Not applicable
Sowing: Not applicable
Spacing: 2-3 feet between plants
Notes: Fruit develops on second-year canes; prune spent floricanes after harvest

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0717/4648/6408/files/download_a9760f52-37d3-43f8-a77b-2b08ff3da0e7.png?v=1791897366
