This well-rooted potted plant stands about 16 inches tall in a 1 liter pot and is ready to establish quickly, producing fragrant spring blooms followed by clusters of jet-black fruit.
The berries are classic black currants: tart, musky-sweet, and rich in old-fashioned flavor, ideal for jams, jellies, syrups, pies, and cordials, while the shrub itself works well as a productive hedge or mixed border specimen. It grows vigorously, ripens mid to late season, and rewards steady moisture and full sun with generous harvests.
Species: Ribes nigrum
Variety: Consort
Type: Deciduous fruiting shrub
Plant_Habit: Upright, bushy, self-fruitful
Sun: Full sun to partial shade
Soil: Moist, well-drained, slightly acidic loam
Days_to_Harvest: Fruit ripens mid to late summer; typically fruits in 1 to 2 years after planting
Zones: 3 to 7
Germination: Not applicable
Sowing: Not applicable
Spacing: 4 to 5 feet apart
Notes: Water regularly during establishment; prune in late winter to remove old wood

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0717/4648/6408/files/download_1fbeb64d-3157-4431-a3f4-c6dd043e998f.png?v=1791897161
https://www.natesgardensupply.com/products/1-live-plant-consort-black-currant-ribes-nigrum-potted-hardy-fruit-shrub
